SPCA

I’m pleased to announce that Craig Ferguson Images and Taiwan Photographers will be hosting their first combined photography event for the Taiwan SPCA on January 24, 2010. We will be meeting at Xindian MRT Station at 3pm. Please visit Craig’s blog for my guest post about the event.

Craig and I have met on numerous occasions to talk about our love for photography and our desire to bring a community of incredible photographers together to share their passion and knowledge for this art. For me, meeting new photographers is always exciting because it gives me a chance to pick their brains and learn.

Meeting Craig for the first time was a lot like this. We met at a blogger meet-up and ended up talking cameras for most of the night. You see, I had just bought my first SLR and I had been keeping Craig busy with a number of emails asking for advice. He met up with me when I bought my first lens and guided me through the whole process of getting to know my equipment. Few people are that lucky. Few people are so generous with their time. Since then, he has been a constant source of support and encouragement and he has been a wonderful teacher. I am sure that others feel the same.

This is just one of many reasons why I am excited to be working with Craig. We are both like-minded in our desire to give something to the photography community in Taiwan. For Craig, this is a way for him to offer advice and expertise and for me, well, I’ve always enjoyed supporting photographers in Taiwan by showcasing their photographic works and various specialties. I learn something with each and every photographer I speak with.

Taiwan Photographers would like to extend a warm welcome to Craig Ferguson. 2010 is going to be a great year for photographers in Taiwan!

The year is drawing to an end and with 2010 just around the corner, I thought I’d consult the stats to find out who your favorite photographers are and which photos were the most popular images of 2009. Results are based on number of page views.

Thanks to all of you who contribute to Taiwan Photographers, whether you participate as a photographer or a reader, you are appreciated. Wishing you the best for 2010. Thank you Taiwan Photographers!

It comes as no surprise that Steven won favorite photographer and favorite photo this year. Steven covered a number of main events here in Taiwan this year, but things really started to take off this summer when he went on tour with the Supermilkmen. Steven’s hard work and dedication to his art paid off in spades. He came out with several new photography projects this year and he’s starting 2010 off with a real bang as the event photographer for the Last Minute New Year’s Eve celebration at the Sunworld Dynasty Hotel in Taipei. Visit Steven’s web site for a look at his impressive portfolio, or better yet, drop by his fan page on Facebook and leave a comment.
